A French brand born under the Mediterranean sun

Hi, I'm Léane, a 23-year-old French designer and the heart behind Atelier Palacios. My journey is far from traditional. At 19, I left my science studies in France to learn English in Malta. It was there, under the golden Mediterranean sun, that everything began.

Spending my days on sun-drenched beaches, I fell in love with tanning. But I was frustrated by the unflattering tan lines left by regular swimwear. That's when the idea sparked: what if I could create tan-through swimsuits that would give you an even, radiant tan without those pesky lines?

The meaning behind Atelier Palacios

The name carries my story. Palacios is my grandmother's maiden name, she's the one who pushed me toward sewing by gifting me my first sewing kit. A part of Palacios is also Spanish it's my great-grandfather origin, and it brings that Mediterranean sunshine and vibrant, colorful spirit into the brand.

Atelier is French for "workshop," a nod to where it all started: my living room in Portugal, which I proudly called my atelier. It's a reminder of those early days when I was sewing everything myself with just two machines and a dream.

From handmade beginnings to a growing French brand

I launched Atelier Palacios in June 2024 on a complete whim, with just $2,000 and two sewing machines. I'm completely self-taught in fashion and design, a passion I discovered far from my scientific background. I started by handcrafting every single swimsuit in my home atelier, learning and perfecting each stitch.

As demand grew, I knew I needed to scale while maintaining the quality and authenticity that started it all. Today, I design every pattern, motif, and detail from my studio, and partner with a trusted factory to bring my vision to life for the American market.

French design meets innovative fabric technology

Every Atelier Palacios swimsuit is designed by me and crafted with care using a unique micro-perforated fabric that lets the sun's rays through for an even, line-free tan. I work closely with my production partners to ensure each piece meets my standards because quality has always been non-negotiable.

While the swimsuits are now produced in a factory, the soul of the brand remains unchanged: French craftsmanship, Mediterranean inspiration, and that same passion I had when I was sewing alone in my living room.
